12 kW hybrid inverter: who is it for?
The Deye SUN-12K-SG04LP3-EU is meant for larger home and commercial solar installations where solar energy, batteries and the grid have to work together.

Hybrid inverter with battery: which batteries can you connect?
The SUN-12K-SG04LP3-EU connects to 48 V low-voltage batteries with a voltage range of 40–60 V. Lead-acid and lithium-ion batteries are supported, the maximum charge and discharge current is 240 A, and 6 battery charge and discharge periods can be set.
With lithium-ion batteries the inverter exchanges data over RS485 or CAN and adapts to the battery management system (BMS) by itself. There is an external temperature sensor. The manufacturer’s documents do not name specific battery models, so we check compatibility before you order.
How many solar panels can you connect to a 12 kW inverter?
The maximum PV input power is 15,600 W across two MPPT inputs (2+1 strings), with an MPPT voltage range of 200–650 V, a maximum PV voltage of 800 V and a start-up voltage of 160 V.
PV input current is 26 + 13 A and the maximum short-circuit current is 34 + 17 A. The exact number of panels is set by string voltage and current, so we work out the strings from the data of your panels.
Off-grid operation and diesel generator
In off-grid mode the SUN-12K-SG04LP3-EU can briefly (10 s) deliver 2 × rated power. The manufacturer specifies 100 % unbalanced power on each phase, with maximum output up to 50 % of rated power.
Up to 10 inverters can be connected in parallel, both on-grid and off-grid. The manual also describes a generator peak shaving function.
