Hybrid inverter with battery: which batteries fit?
This inverter connects to one 48 V (40–60 V) low-voltage battery, lithium-ion or lead-acid, with a maximum charge and discharge current of 120 A. Lithium-ion charging adapts to the BMS. We choose the battery after checking compatibility; the inverter has one battery input.
Up to 10 inverters can be connected in parallel.
How many solar panels can a 5 kW inverter take?
The maximum PV input power is 7500 W.
The inverter has two MPPTs, each with one string (1+1) and up to 20 A per input. The MPPT voltage range is 200–650 V, start-up voltage 160 V and maximum input voltage 800 V. We work out the exact number of panels from string voltage and current before you order.
Backup power during a blackout and running with a generator
When grid voltage is lost, this inverter runs in off-grid (UPS) mode and can deliver up to 10 000 W for 10 s, twice its rated power. A diesel generator can be started through the G-start dry contact, and an existing solar system can be extended through AC coupling.
How to connect a hybrid inverter to the grid and storage
The inverter complies with grid codes including EN 50549 and VDE-AR-N 4105, and in zero export mode no energy is fed into the grid. For this it uses current transformers CT1–CT3 or a three-phase smart meter over RS485. The manufacturer’s manual specifies a 150 A DC breaker on the battery side and 63 A on the AC side. ESO (Lithuanian grid operator) states:
“Part of the surplus electricity generated can be stored in an energy storage device and used in the evening.”
ESO also notes on the same page that a storage system lets you reduce the power fed into the distribution grid, so in some cases a larger power plant can be connected than the grid limits alone would allow.
