Hybrid inverter with battery: how to choose power and capacity?

In this kit the rated inverter power is 3.6 kW and the battery energy is 16.08 kWh: power sets how many appliances can run at once, and capacity sets how much energy you can keep for the evening.

The GenixGreen ES-BOX12 MAX+ is a 16.08 kWh LiFePO4 battery rated for up to 10,000 charge cycles. It can be mounted on a wall or on the floor.

The inverter accepts 40–60 V lithium and lead-acid batteries, communicates with the battery over CAN / RS485, and the maximum charge and discharge current is 80 A. We have put this pair together as a kit, and before you order we still check compatibility against the manufacturer’s list.

Backup power and the backup output

The backup (BACKUP) output delivers 3.6 kW, and the switchover to backup takes less than 10 ms (single-inverter system).

The battery reserve level can be adjusted, so part of the energy can always be kept for backup. The inverter has a 3.6 kW generator input with several connection and automatic control options. Which loads go on the backup circuit is decided in the design.
