The Marsun MVB6 is a three-phase petrol generator with electric key start: 5.5 kW rated power (6 kW maximum), 230 V / 400 V, 50 Hz, and the full power can also be drawn from a single phase. It has an air-cooled FC190F engine and AVR voltage regulation, and the factory Two-Wire Switch connection lets a hybrid inverter or an ATS cabinet start and stop the generator automatically. The manufacturer states that a 25 l tank gives up to 8 hours of running at 100 % load. It is meant for backup power for homes, solar systems with storage, construction sites and workshops.

Three-phase generator for home, construction and workshop: what is the MVB6 for?
- Backup power for a house when the grid goes down
- A solar system with storage, when the solar PV system produces too little and the battery is empty
- Power for a construction site
- Workshops
- Garden plots, camping and outdoor events
How long does the MVB6 run on a full tank and how much fuel does it use?
The manufacturer states that on a full 25 l tank the MVB6 runs for up to 8 hours at 100 % load. Plan around this manufacturer figure: it matters more than the calculation.
A rough calculation from the table data: ≤ 374 g/kWh × 5.5 kW = about 2.06 kg of petrol per hour, or about 2.8 l/h (2.06 kg ÷ 0.74 kg/l). At that consumption a 25 l tank would last about 9 hours, but that is only a theoretical result, so the manufacturer’s 8 hours is the more reliable figure for planning. At a lower load the generator uses less fuel and the tank lasts longer.
Generator with ATS: how does the MVB6 start automatically?
The MVB6 has a factory potential-free Two-Wire Switch connection. It is a simple two-wire connection through which a hybrid inverter or an ATS cabinet can start and stop the generator by itself, without you being there. When the contact closes, the generator starts, and when it opens, the engine shuts down safely.
- With a hybrid or off-grid inverter: the inverter decides when extra energy is needed, and the generator connects to the inverter’s generator input. A separate ATS cabinet is then not needed.
- Without a solar PV system: an ATS cabinet monitors the grid and starts the generator when the voltage is lost. The ATS module is optional and sold separately.
The manufacturer states compatibility with Deye, Solis, Solplanet, GoodWe, Victron Energy and Sungrow hybrid inverters. Connection to the building installation and ATS configuration must be done by a qualified electrician.
How to connect a backup generator to a house or business?
A generator must not be plugged straight into the sockets of a house. It connects to the site’s internal network only through a permanent connection, and switchover can be automated through an inverter or an ATS. ESO (Lithuanian grid operator) states in its recommendations for a backup source:
“A generator may be connected to the internal electrical network of a whole building only by installing a fixed connection and measures that ensure the voltage produced by the generator is not fed into ESO’s networks… Entrust this work only to qualified specialists.”
In the same place ESO advises choosing the power according to your supply connection and, when connecting single-phase loads to a three-phase generator, taking the single-phase limit into account.
We handle it for you. We select the equipment for your site, deliver anywhere in Lithuania, install and connect it. We calculate the power you need from your supply connection and real load, and choose the switchover solution.
Can a three-phase generator power single-phase loads? Full power from one phase
From a single-phase socket of a typical three-phase generator you get only a third of the total power. With the MVB6 the full power can be drawn from one phase (Equal Power), so both the 400 V power socket and the single-phase 230 V socket are fully usable.
This way one generator powers three-phase loads and demanding single-phase appliances: large power tools, welders or heat pumps, without overloading one phase and without buying separate sources for different jobs.
Pumps and compressors draw 2–5 times more current when they start than when running, so allow a margin for them. Running at 100 % load for a long time is not recommended: the recommended mode for the engine and generator is 75–80 % of rated power, which for the MVB6 is about 4.1–4.4 kW. If the generator charges batteries, add the charging power to the building’s demand.
What to know before buying
- The noise level stated by the manufacturer is ≤ 97 dB. A sound-proof enclosure is not mentioned in the manufacturer’s data, so choose the location with neighbours and rest areas in mind.
- Weight is 71 / 76 kg and dimensions are 700 × 540 × 575 mm, so it is worth planning the location in advance.
- There is no built-in ATS, but there is a Two-Wire Switch connection for automatic start from an inverter, and an ATS module can be bought separately.
- Start is electric, with a key.
- Fuel is petrol; engine oil is SAE 10W-30, 1.1 l.
Frequently asked questions
How long does the Marsun MVB6 run on a full tank?
The manufacturer states up to 8 hours of continuous running at 100 % load, with a 25 l tank. At a lower load the tank lasts longer.
How much fuel does the MVB6 generator use?
According to the manufacturer, no more than 374 g/kWh. At a full 5.5 kW load that is roughly 2.06 kg, or 2.8 l of petrol per hour.
Is the MVB6 a generator with ATS?
The MVB6 has no built-in automatic transfer switch (ATS), but it has a Two-Wire Switch connection for automatic start and stop, and an ATS module can be bought separately.
Which inverters is the MVB6 compatible with?
The manufacturer lists Deye, Solis, Solplanet, GoodWe, Victron Energy and Sungrow hybrid inverters. Hybrid Energy matches the connection diagram to your system.
Can the generator be connected straight to the house distribution board?
No, only through a permanent connection with protection that stops the voltage from reaching the ESO grid, and only by a qualified specialist. Hybrid Energy installs such a connection.
Is a 5.5 kW three-phase generator suitable for a house, construction site or workshop?
Yes, the MVB6 with 5.5 kW of rated power suits backup power for a house, a solar system with storage, a construction site and a workshop.
How loud is the MVB6?
The manufacturer states ≤ 97 dB. A sound-proof enclosure is not mentioned in its data, so choose a location away from rest areas.
Can single-phase appliances be connected to the MVB6?
Yes, the full 5.5 kW can also be drawn from a single 230 V phase, so it suits welders, heat pumps and large tools.
How is the MVB6 started?
The MVB6 is started with the electric starter by key, or automatically through the Two-Wire Switch connection from a hybrid inverter or an ATS cabinet.
Does Hybrid Energy deliver and install the MVB6?
Yes, Hybrid Energy delivers the MVB6 anywhere in Lithuania, selects the switchover and auto-start solution, installs and commissions it. The consultation before buying is free.
