The EMLO 20 is the largest model in the EMLO diesel infrared heater range (13, 16 and 20 kW): its 20 kW heats up to 1400 m³, and its 70 l fuel tank is bigger than the 50 l tanks of the EMLO 16 and EMLO 13. It suits large warehouses, production halls and building sites where the smaller models fall short. It runs on diesel or kerosene, is powered from a 220–240 V supply (80 W) and is controlled with the TERMOFOL Smart app or the remote control.

Choose the EMLO 20 when the volume to heat approaches 1400 m³ or you need a 70 l fuel tank. For smaller spaces, going by the heated volume the manufacturer states, the EMLO 16 (up to 1100 m³) or the EMLO 13 (up to 900 m³) may be enough. Power supply, fuel and control are the same on all three models.
What is the EMLO 20 diesel infrared heater suitable for?
The EMLO 20 suits large spaces that are hard to heat, up to 1400 m³. The manufacturer lists these places: halls, warehouses, workshops, garages, building sites, event tents and tent halls, as well as a terrace, greenhouse or winter garden.
According to the manufacturer’s instructions, the heater must not be used in bedrooms, small enclosed rooms or rooms smaller than 80 m².
How much fuel does the EMLO 20 use?
The EMLO 20 uses 1.40–1.60 l/h at maximum and about 0.48 l/h on average. The fuel tank holds 70 l. After switch-off, an electromagnetic valve works for 10 s and returns the remaining fuel to the tank, which reduces the fuel smell.
You can use diesel or kerosene. The manufacturer warns that other fuel can cause soot deposits and faults.
Diesel heater with a flue: how are the combustion fumes removed?
The EMLO 20 comes with a Ø 100 mm flue connection kit: an elbow, a 1 m extension and a 0.9 m end piece. In small spaces the manufacturer recommends an additional fume removal system: a Ø 100 mm × 5 m aluminium pipe protected from rain. The room must be ventilated regularly.
Start-up, control and placement
The EMLO 20 needs no installation: fill it with fuel and plug it into a socket. You can control it with the TERMOFOL Smart app (iOS/Android), the remote control or the LED display on the housing. Pairing the app requires 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, and the router must be no more than 3–5 m away in the same room.
When placing the heater, leave at least 15 cm to the wall on the left and right and at least 1 m to the ceiling, and keep the front free of obstacles. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby and lock the wheels after placing it. Add fuel only when the heater is switched off. Electronic temperature control is also mentioned in EU legislation as a feature of local space heaters:
“With electronic room temperature control function”
Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/1188 on ecodesign requirements for local space heaters
