Description

The EASYWAY UNIV-HV control unit (BMS), manufacturer code VBS91281, manages one high-voltage battery tower: it monitors the voltage and temperature of every cell, balances the cells and tells the inverter the remaining capacity and the permitted charge current. One unit is needed per tower, however many 7.68 kWh modules it holds. It works with EASYWAY UNIV-HV modules only.

Technical specifications

Parameter Value
Brand / series EASYWAY UNIV-HV
Purpose battery management unit (BMS) for a high-voltage battery
How many you need one unit per tower, regardless of how many modules it holds
Functions monitors the voltage and temperature of every cell, balances the cells, communicates with the inverter (reports remaining capacity and permitted charge current)
Compatibility EASYWAY UNIV-HV modules only (7.68 kWh); not suitable for batteries from other manufacturers
Manufacturer code VBS91281

When do you need a separate BMS unit?

You need one BMS unit per battery tower. It is bought separately when you build a second tower or replace a faulty unit. When you start a new system, we offer ready-made packages from 15.36 kWh in which the unit is already included.

Which high-voltage batteries does it work with?

The unit is made for EASYWAY UNIV-HV modules of 7.68 kWh (the ST46K, ST54K and ST61K storage units) and does not suit batteries from other manufacturers. It connects to the inverter with a single communication line. High-voltage and low-voltage systems are not compatible with each other, so we check compatibility with your inverter before you order.

Connecting and commissioning when you expand a home battery

The modules are stacked on top of each other and joined with factory cables and one communication line to the inverter. After every expansion you must re-adjust the inverter settings so that it sees the new capacity and changes the charge current accordingly.

Why a battery matters for a solar PV system

The BMS is part of the battery, and the battery lets you keep the solar surplus for the evening. ESO (Lithuanian grid operator) states:

“Part of the surplus electricity generated can be stored in an energy storage device and used in the evening.”

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a second EASYWAY UNIV-HV BMS unit?

Only if you build a second separate tower: one unit is needed per tower, however many modules it holds.

Is the VBS91281 BMS suitable for batteries from other manufacturers?

No, the VBS91281 is made for EASYWAY UNIV-HV modules of 7.68 kWh only and is not compatible with other manufacturers’ batteries.

What does a battery management system (BMS) do?

A BMS monitors the voltage and temperature of every cell, balances the cells against each other and tells the inverter the remaining capacity and the permitted charge current.

Is the BMS included in the battery package?

Yes, in the ready-made packages from 15.36 kWh the BMS unit is already included, so you do not need to buy it separately.

When is it worth buying the BMS separately?

When you are building a second tower or replacing a faulty unit. For a new system a ready-made package from 15.36 kWh is more convenient.

How does the EASYWAY UNIV-HV BMS connect to the inverter?

The modules are joined with factory cables, and the unit connects to the inverter with a single communication line. After an expansion, the inverter settings must be re-adjusted.

Does the VBS91281 fit the ST46K, ST54K and ST61K storage units?

Yes, it is the control unit of the EASYWAY UNIV-HV line, made for 7.68 kWh modules, which make up the ST46K, ST54K and ST61K towers.

Do I need to reconfigure the inverter after adding a module?

Yes, after every expansion the inverter settings must be re-adjusted so that it sees the new capacity and changes the charge current.

Who will help me expand the battery and configure the inverter?

Hybrid Energy checks that your inverter and the existing unit will accept the extra module, delivers anywhere in Lithuania, installs and reconfigures the system.
