Deye SUN-4K-G05 is a three-phase transformerless string grid inverter, the lowest-rated of the four G05 models compared here (4, 6, 8 and 10 kW): rated output 4 kW (max. active power 4.4 kW), up to 5.2 kW of DC input, two MPPT inputs and a maximum efficiency of 98.3 %. It is meant for a solar PV system without a battery, where most of the electricity is used during the day.

What is a 4 kW three-phase grid inverter for?
The Deye SUN-4K-G05 is a 4 kW three-phase grid inverter for sites that use electricity during the day: production, an office, a shop, a farm with refrigeration or pumps. There solar generation and consumption coincide in time, so storage is not always needed. Up to 5.2 kW of solar panels can be connected to this model (max. DC input power). Can you connect a battery to a grid-tied inverter?
No, a battery cannot be connected to the SUN-4K-G05 grid inverter. Storage needs a hybrid inverter or a separate storage inverter. Without storage, electricity is bought from the grid again in the evening when the sun is gone. ESO (Lithuanian grid operator) describes the benefit of storage like this:
“Part of the surplus electricity generated can be stored in an energy storage device and used in the evening.”
